More on Webvisions

How could I forget? It was late in the day, one of the last sessions of the conference. I forgot to mention how great Gene Smith’s session on Social Metadata and the Relevance Revolution was.

There are some good notes on the talk at Blog Every Brand New Day. Gene also has the slides from his presentation up on his blog as well.

I particularly enjoyed his discussion of level of engagement and social intent (page 24 on the PDF). What doesn’t appear on the graph is his suggestion that LastFM is low engagement, but high social intent. This seems about right.

His discussion about feedback loops, tracking user interaction, and collaborative filtering are very interesting, and should spark new ideas for anyone interested in this type of interactive website… Librarians included.
